Being an aspiring medical student, I am also drawn towards the aspect of human psychology. One particular topic that I am interested in is the human body language.
All of us should have realized by now that human-human interaction is not entirely restricted to verbal communication. The other complementary aspect is the body language. We've experienced ourselves, that when someone is being untruthful, they fidget and shift their positions a lot. They mumble, scratch their nose, and tend to change the topic of your conversation.
The liar would almost certainly employ the defensive tactic, while an honest person would tend to be offensive...not that all pleasant, of course.
In this post, I would try and illustrate a more subtle way to detect lies. Bear in mind, however, that this method is not always accurate, but a good number of studies have proved its accuracy. Nor is it to be employed the way Legilimens do in the Harry Potter novel.
First of all, have a look at the cute diagram above. I Stumbled across it on the web.
The abbreviations stand for:
1.Vc : Visual constructed
2. Vr: Visual remembered
3. Ar : Auditory remembered
4. Ac : Auditory constructed
5. F: Feeling
6. Ai: Internal dialogue
The above applies for right-handed people. For left-handed people, just invert the results.
So, how do we know if someone is lying? Now, take for example, when you ask your BF/GF whether they love you...and they look towards the direction of Ai, when they should have looked towards F...you get the gist.
The truth is always painful...Ignorance is bliss....
